Legal marriages in Mexico are performed only by the judge of the civil registry, usually at the offices of the Civil Registry, but the judge goes also to hotels or other areas to perform marriage services.


An application form for the marriage must be filled out in Spanish and delivered to the Civil Registry office two days before the day of the wedding. You need to provide the following legal paper work to the Civil Registry two days before the wedding.


Documents
  • Both the Bride and Groom must provide a copy of his and her birth certificate.
  • Blood test MUST be performed in Mexico prior to the wedding (2 or 3 days before the wedding day) at "Centro de Salud", Cabo San Lucas.
  • Each spouse must have a valid tourist permit or other Visa permitting him or her to travel to Mexico. Please provide a copy.


In case of previous spouses:

Copy of the divorce decree or death certificate. These documents should have an apistle from the Secretary of State, of the state in the United States where they were issued and be translated into Spanish.


Note:

If you want the wedding to be in a place other than the offices, a fee is charged.


IN MEXICO THE CUSTOM IS TO GET MARRIED TWICE. THE LEGAL MARRIAGE IS CONSIDERED A FORMALITY. THE RELIGIOUS MARRIAGE IS CONSIDERED THE REALITY IMPORTANT OCCASION.



Information Provided to fill the Marriage Form

Both bride and groom must provide the following information:

  • Complete name according to your birth certificate
  • Place of birth
  • Nationality
  • Regular address
  • Age
  • Ocupation
  • Date of birth
  • Phone number


Both bride and groom must provide the following information from their parents:

  • Complete name of the father (according to his birth certificate)
  • Regular address
  • Ocupation
  • Nationality
  • Complete name of the mother(according to her birth certificate)
  • Regular address
  • Ocupation
  • Nationality


Four witnesses information needs to be provided:

  • Copy of an official ID
  • Complete name (according to him/her birth certificate)
  • Regular address
  • Relationship with bride or groom
  • Marital status
  • Ocupation
  • Age


Please specify if you want personal property to be held in joint or separate ownership.

This marriage is recognized as legal throughout the world.
